Sepsis care improvement in Tobago.
Poster presentation on a sepsis improvement initiative at the National Health Research Conference in Trinidad.
Documented professional workI’m Dr. Fritz Oben — Dr. O. My work brings together emergency medicine, clinical learning and practical ideas that help us deliver better care.
Record the work. Understand the learning. Make the next step count.
Good clinical care is shaped by what we notice, the decisions we make and what we learn afterwards.
I work in emergency medicine in Tobago and am pursuing the DM in Emergency Medicine. My interests include critical care, sepsis, safer patient transfers and the everyday systems that support good care.
As the founder of GoMedic Health Limited, I am also developing ideas around care coordination and support beyond the hospital. EM24/7 grows from a related question: how can we help clinicians turn daily experience into useful, verifiable learning?
A clinical learning and career portfolio created and directed by Dr. Fritz Oben. EM24/7 brings evidence, reflection, supervisor feedback and professional development into one organised space.
Portfolio access is by invitation. The independent portal is being prepared. The example alongside is illustrative.
A simulation debrief can capture how you recognised a changing situation, considered alternatives and asked for help.
Arrange a supervised discussion of escalation decisions, then record the feedback and next step.
A proposed EM24/7 learning programme for doctors seeking structured emergency medicine study, supervised feedback and a stronger body of career evidence.
A proposed study pathway for doctors preparing for emergency medicine examinations, including those outside a DM programme. Entry and examination eligibility remain separate decisions.
Teaching programmes, faculty, dates and assessment arrangements are being developed. Participation does not confer a DM, specialist registration, examination eligibility or accredited CPD. Any future credits or formal recognition require the relevant approval.
The proposed programme is intended to support doctors outside formal DM training as well as residents. Suitability, supervision and entry requirements will be set before enrolment opens. An exam preparation course does not replace the experience or training required by an examining body.
The proposed course design includes required portfolio activities and feedback. These would be published as course requirements before enrolment. Requirements for an external examination or a hospital department can only be set by the responsible authority.
The pilot supports separate student accounts. Each student manages their own evidence, while supervisors review assigned work. Student access requires an invitation and the appropriate account role.
A proposed departmental pilot to explore whether EM24/7 can make evidence collection and supervisor assessment easier in a busy clinical environment.
Agree the learning outcomes, assessors, privacy arrangements and a small, manageable group of learners.
Trial anonymised or simulated evidence, structured feedback and a regular supervisor review over an agreed period.
Review completion, assessment turnaround, supervisor workload, export reliability and the experience of learners.
Clinical experience raises questions worth examining. My interests centre on locally useful improvement, stronger emergency care systems and learning that changes practice.
